Sassafras is a genus of deciduous trees known for their aromatic properties and unique leaf shapes, which can be oval, mitten-shaped, or tri-lobed. The most common species, Sassafras albidum, is native to eastern North America and has been used for culinary and medicinal purposes, including making tea and flavoring root beer.

* Hand washing is recommended. The clay is porous, just like an unglazed terra cotta flower pot, and soaks up water quickly.
* Dry on a rack so air can circulate around the pottery.
